The origins lie in the British company Clement Talbot Ltd, which imported French vehicles of the Clément brand to England from 1903 onwards and later manufactured automobiles itself. In 1919, the Darracq company took over the small British company and used the brand name Talbot-Darracq for its passenger cars. This brand name was used for racing cars from the production facilities in both countries until around 1930. The brand name of the British passenger cars continued to be Talbot. Between 1920 and 1927, cars with very different engines were built: the range included four-cylinder models with 1.6 and 2.1 litre displacement. In 1927, three engine variants of a six-cylinder with a displacement of 2.8 to 3 litres were added to the range.
